摘要：文化负载词是标志某种文化中特有事物的词、词组和习语，直接反映了特定民族在漫长的历史进程中逐渐积累的，有别于其他民族独特的活动方式，其翻译一直是文化翻译的一个重难点，《山海经》中文化意象的丰富性与复杂性更是加大了其翻译的难度。

本文以《山海经》的中国译者王宏和西方译者安妮比勒尔的翻译版本为研究对象，旨在按照尤金奈达对于文化因素的分类，把《山海经》中的文化负载词划分为生态、物质、社会、宗教和语言文化词汇，通过对比中西译者对《山海经》中文化负载词的译文，来探索中国神话典籍作品在英译中的文化翻译问题。最终得出结论译者应该根据不同的情况，结合不同的翻译策略，使原语读者和译语读者的推理距离相同，使得双方都能更好的理解原文。
