一、教材内容分析
This unit is the seventh unit in the first volume of Grade 8 Go for it. This unit mainly focuses on talking about the nature to further learn the usage of comparative and superlative. In Section A, students are supposed to learn some new words and improve their listening ability.This part also presents some geographical knowledge, so that students can know more about the nature. Students should improve their reading ability by reading the article about mountain. Section B introduces the life style of pandas, expands students' understanding of the life style of pandas, and improves students' reading ability.The post-reading activities enable students to reproduce the information in the text through completing the sentences, which can not only deepen the understanding of the article, but also prepare for the writing later. So the topic of talking about nature is close to students life, and can easily arouse students' interest in learning and make them willing to participate in relevant activities.
二、学习者特征分析
After one year's learning, Grade 8 students have developed their own methods to learn English, acquired a certain amount of basic knowledge and developed their own independent learning ability. However, due to the habit of learning English all the time, most students are reluctant to express themselves so they are to be encouraged to communicate in English, and some speaking and writing activities should be set up for them to enhance their confidence and ability of expression. In addition, the students may be more active in thinking and may not be interested in some boring mechanical training. They need some creative activities, such activities being conducive to arouse their enthusiasm, activities to stimulate their interest in the content of the class.
