一、教材内容分析   

This is Unit 8 in the first volume of Grade 7 Go for it. The main topic is about birthdays and dates. In this unit, students will learn the names of 12 months and ordinal number words through tasks and games, and then learn how to express dates and finally learn to ask and answer about birthday. On top of the important words and grammar, the listening, speaking,  reading, and writing activities are helpful for students to master and strengthen their memory about date and asking and answering the date. Special questions led by 'when' are the grammatical focus of this unit. Let the students use key words, phrases and the target language to talk about the date and be the master of time. This unit consists of 5 periods.

二、学习者特征分析

The students are very interested in English and they have a strong enthusiasm and initiative for learning English. They have a certain ability of understanding and analyzing. They are curious about new things and activities. However, some students' listening and speaking ability is weak, and they can only introduce their names, hobbies and so on in simple sentences, it is so difficult for them to express their ideas and feelings. In the teaching process, some students cannot understand the teacher's intention or even understand the classroom language, which will have a certain impact on the classroom teaching effect. In addition,  they lack a certain amount of self-control and patience to keep learning. They love team work and discussion in group, which can not only help students improve their sense of cooperation, but also can build up confidence for students who lack confidence in learning English, and then promote a sense of achievement and make progress.
