一、教材内容分析

This unit comes from the fifth chapter of the seventh grade volume II of People's Education Press. It takes animals in the zoo as the topic and describes animals, expresses personal preferences as the task to learn the use of sentence patterns like “What animals do you like ?”, “I like koalas.” , “Why do you like koalas?”, “Because they’re very cute.” and so on. This unit is close to the students' real life. Describing some animals around us will stimulate students' interest in learning English and the ability to express their ideas in English. Through the study of this unit, students can use their own language to describe the animals in the zoo, and use the target sentence pattern for oral communication, students will have enough opportunities to show themselves. The focus of this unit is to learn the vocabulary of this unit, the special questions guided by “what”, “why” and “where”, and the use of "because" to express the reason. The difficulty lies in the accurate use of adjectives to describe the things they are interested in.

After a semester of growth, the students in this stage gradually get rid of the childishness of primary school. Students' learning style of junior high school is gradually clear, extroverted children are still vigorous, introverted children are also gradually exposed. At this stage, students hope to maintain a good self-image, hope to be recognized by everyone, and also hope to make some new good friends in junior high school. At this stage, teachers should adopt vivid and diverse teaching methods to stimulate students' interest in learning. At this stage, students are more active, easily distracted, like to express their opinions, and hope to be praised by teachers. Therefore, we should grasp the characteristics of students in teaching and give full play to their initiative. At the same time, in the process of growing up, the students' emotions, thinking, will, ability and personality are still very unstable and mature, which has great plasticity and variability. Teachers should pay enough attention to students and guide them correctly.
