本翻译实践作品是英裔加拿大剧作家、著名儿童文学作家希拉·伯福德的 《小狗贝尔的战争奇遇》。希拉·伯福德的作品寥寥，却获奖众多。希拉的作品多以动物为主角，这些人格化的主人公个个有不凡的灵魂，其言行思绪无不透露着忠贞纯洁、热情浪漫等尚为人类所向往的美好品质。而她的文字虽无华饰，却能在不经意处散发真情、感人于肺腑。这些在《小狗贝尔的战争奇遇》中均有印证。

此次翻译内容为本书的第九至十二章。第九章主要讲述贝尔陷入孤身流浪的境地，饱受战火摧残。全章以描述战争为主。到了第十章，战火平息，特里莫妮夫人因贝尔舍身相助，于废墟下终得解救，后因感激而收留贝尔；她的感激不仅为救命之恩，更是由于她原本冷峻孤僻的灵魂受到贝尔的感化。第十一章是给贝尔的嘉奖令，他也因特里莫妮夫人有了自己的名字，随后安适地享受着优越的生活。第十二章的内容已在前面章节有所铺垫，描述了麦克林突然出现闯入贝尔的新生活中，与特里莫妮夫人进行一番争斗想要将贝尔带回战舰。

    在小论文中，笔者对原文的语言特点和行文风格进行了简要说明，在此基础上陈述相应的翻译策略和大致翻译过程；而在翻译过程中遇到的难点和问题，笔者在导师帮助下顺利解决后也在小论文中有例举；最后部分是笔者在此次翻译实践中获得的感受和收获。

INTRODUCTION

This translation work is from the book Bel Ria: Dog of War which is written by the British Canadian playwright and famous writer of children's literature Sheila Burnford. Sheila Burnford's works are very few, but awards are numerous. Most of her works take animals as the protagonist, and all these personified protagonists have uncommon souls. Their thoughts and deeds reveal the good quality of loyalty, purity, passion, romance and so on. Though her writing is not elaborately decorated, it reveals the true feelings and deeply impress the readers. These have been well confirmed in Bel Ria: Dog of War.

This work extracts chapter Nine to Twelve of Bel Ria: Dog of War. In the ninth chapter, it mainly tells that Bel was trapped in a lonely and horrifying situation in a war; the whole chapter is also a sketch of the war. In the tenth chapter, the war subsided, Mrs. Tremorne was finally saved from the ruins with the help of Bel who was then adopted by her; she felt appreciative not only for the salvation, but also for Bel himself who had changed her lonely and aloof soul. The eleventh chapter is the award for Bel. He was given the name by Mrs. Tremorne and enjoyed a good life in peace for a while with her. The content of the twelfth chapter had been laid out in the preceding chapters, describing the master of Bel, Mclean's sudden entrance into the new life of Bel, and finally brought Bel back to the warship after a combat with Mrs. Tremorne.

In the accessary paper, the author first explains briefly the language nature and writing style of Bel Ria: Dog of War, then states corresponding translation strategies and rough process. Besides, the difficult problems the author has met while accomplishing this work are selectively illustrated. What’s more, it is the author’s perception during the translation practice that is shown in the last of the paper.
