摘要：词汇是语言的基本组成，传递文化信息。在英语和汉语中，都有许多关于颜色的词汇。这些词既描述颜色的物理性质，同时又承载丰富的文化内涵。随着国际交流愈加密切，颜色词的内涵差异会成为跨文化交流中的理解障碍。因此，研究颜色词的文化内涵，有助于理解颜色词具体意义，促进和谐交流。

本文比较了中文、英语两种语言中六对基本颜色词（黑/black、白/white、红/red、黄/yellow 、绿/green、蓝/blue）的内涵，归纳英汉颜色词内涵之间的异同，并且分析了这些差异的可能原因。

本文主要由5部分构成。第一部分是介绍,整理了国内外关于颜色词的理论研究，明确了本文的研究目的及意义。第二部分是文献综述，综合国外学者柏林与凯的基本色彩词理论及国内学者如姚小平、刘云泉、李红印等关于色彩词的研究，界定了本文中基本颜色词包括：黑/black、白/white、红/red、黄/yellow 、绿/green、蓝/blue。同时明确“文化内涵”一词指英中文化体系中的所有扩展含义。然后，第三部分举例对比分析了两种语言中以上所说的六种基本颜色词的文化内涵的相似与不同。第四部分则主要从自然环境、宗教信仰、风俗生活习惯等方面分析造成这些差异的原因。通过分析内涵差异及原因，得到结论：由于中西自然环境，宗教信仰，传统风俗等的不同，相同颜色词内涵既有相似，也有不同；不同颜色词内涵也有相似之处。
