中文摘要：长期以来，在英语教学中，由于受传统班级授课制的束缚，教师从备课、授课、作业、辅导、考查到评价，较少顾及好、中、差各类学生的差异，大多采用相同的方法进行教学。众所周知中学生在生理发展和心理特征上有差异，对学科的兴趣和爱好，对知识的接受能力的差异也是客观存在的。学生所处的文化环境、家庭背景和自身思维方式是不同的，因此学生的学习活动也存在个体差异。如果在教学中采用一视同仁的教学方法，那么将不利于每个学生自主学习，抑制了学生创新意识的培养与实践能力的提高。为了改变这种现状，教师必须树立新的教学观念，掌握新的教学策略。分层教学是一种有效的教学组织形式，它要求教师在教学中要关注学生的个体差异，实施差异教学，使每个学生都得到充分的发展。它能面向全体学生，为学生的全面发展创造条件，有利于学生素质的普遍提高。本文主要采用文献法进行研究，首先对分层教学及其优点进行简要介绍，接着针对中学英语课堂中的具体应用进行分析，并在此基础上提出相关建议。
