中文摘要：在我国，基本从小学就开始学习英语，但由于应试教育的影响，大多数学生在学了十几年英语后，仍不能用英语表达自己的想法，普遍存在中式英语或哑巴英语的现象。但由于英语的国际地位以及中国发展和学生个人发展的需要，提高中学生口语能力很有必要。在本文中，笔者对江苏省S中学109名初三学生做了问卷调查,以了解现在初中生英语口语存在的现状。之后通过问卷结果以及阅读大量相关文献，从口语环境、学校教师和学生自身三个方面分析了当前影响初中生英语口语能力的主要问题及原因，并相应地提出了几种提高初中生英语口语能力的解决方案，如家校合作；提高教师专业水平；贯彻落实新课程标准；增强学生信心，改变其思维等，希望为初中英语口语教学提供一定的帮助。
