一、教材内容分析

This unit is from the textbook of PEP Edition, Grade 7, Book 1, unit 8. The main topic of this unit is to talk about dates and the calendar of some activities.

After learning this unit, students will get more information about the expressions of dates. Their listening, speaking, reading and writing ability can also be improved. In addition, students are more interested in English learning and they gradually build up their enthusiasm and confidence in English learning. They can also understand the cultural differences in the daily life.

The first period of this unit is Introduction. The teaching type of this class is Vocabulary and Speaking, which helps students master some words of months and ordinal numerals that are prepared for learning the whole unit.   

The second period of this unit is something about the When-Questions and Possessive's. The teaching type of this class is Grammar. The main task is to understand and learn to use the structure of When-Questions.

The third period of this unit is Listening and Everyday English. Students can learn how to take the key words and finish some tasks while listening. 

The next period of this unit teaches students how to read and write a note or notice to a friend about the calendar of activities at their school. This period is to develop the students' reading skills such as skimming and scanning, and to cultivate their thinking ability by discussion. 

The last period of this unit is Cultural Corner. Students review the knowledge and talk about the cultural differences of time expressions.
