一、教材内容分析

This unit is the eighth unit“How do you make a banana milk shake”in the first volume of the eighth grade of Go for it. The core topic of this unit is cooking at home, which the text always revolves around, and students should learn how to describe a process and follow instructions. This module covers the most basic part of what we have learned before, that is, food as ingredients, combined with the use of how much and how many. Then let students learn the verbs such as turn on, cut up, peel, put to describe the process of making a dessert, and use first, next, then, finally to describe the sequence of the process. In the part of language knowledge and language skills, many interesting task activities such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing are designed around the core topics to teach and have fun, so that students can play while learning. At the same time, students can develop their own hands-on ability by describing doing things.

Eighth-grade English plays a connecting role in middle school English teaching, which is not only the derivative of the seventh grade but also the foreshadowing of the ninth grade. Although the students have two years of English learning experience, they have different ways of learning. The content of this unit is closely related to the life of the students. In the process of learning in this unit, food will stimulate students’ interest in learning English. Most of the students in the class are from the countryside, and each student has his own cooking experience, so when describing the steps of cooking, the students will have an idea in mind, which will help students to learn this unit better.
