一、教材内容分析

This unit is from the first volume of grade seven Go for it published by the People’s Education Press. The whole unit takes "birthday" as the main line, and integrates the twelve months' names and Ordinal Numbers into the texts and activities. Students learn date expressions by asking each other's birthdays and by saying their own to achieve the ultimate goal, which is to learn to use date expression. By discussing “when is one’s birthday”, it is not only the use of dates and cultural expansion, but also to achieve the consolidation of the new words learned in this unit.

二、学习者特征分析

Most of the seventh grade students are still in the transition period from primary school to middle school. They are not easy to concentrate in class, they have little interest in learning, and lack of purpose and self-control in learning. So the teacher needs to use songs, pictures and videos in class to attract students' attention and to improve their interest in reading. Students in Grade 7 are often afraid to speak English, so the teacher can increase the chances for students to speak English by working in groups to improve their expression skills and confidence.
