Abstract
Under the background of exam-oriented education in China, the situation of middle school students’ English reading is not optimistic. This paper sums up importance of English reading, concludes problems that may affect English reading from perspectives of students' reading habits, the guidance of teachers and cultural difference between Chinese and the west by combining with the current condition of middle school students’ English reading and puts forward relevant strategies respectively from two aspects of cultivating interest and improving ability.
