Abstract
In the era of new media, the use of Multimodal Discourse plays a vital role in primary school English teaching. Therefore, it is an inevitable trend to introduce Multimodal Discourse to teaching.
This dissertation first explores application of Multimodal Discourse to primary school English reading class. And then it mainly analyzes from the following three aspects with some examples: pre-reading, while-reading and post reading. The appropriate use of Multimodal Discourse is beneficial to English teaching. In the final chapter the suggestion is given that teachers should integrate text, image, animation, sound and image, fully mobilize students' various senses, to promote students to think actively and further to improve the teaching efficiency.
