摘要：作为英国文艺复兴的先驱，杰弗雷•乔叟接受了彼得拉克与薄伽丘的文艺复兴思想，并进一步将时代传统与进步思想结合在了一起，其作品《坎特伯雷故事》蕴含了深远的人文主义传统，是英国文学人文主义传统的开创之作。研究乔叟和他的《坎特伯雷故事》不仅可以帮助更好地理解英国文学传统，而且能够更深刻地认识中世纪的英国社会，文化及人民。

乔叟在《坎特伯雷故事》中对女性的描写体现了文艺复兴萌芽时期的特点。本文从女性的优雅形象入手，主要阐释巴斯妇人，普鲁登丝和格丽泽尔达三位女性在男权社会中所体现出的优雅形象，从而总结她们的主要个性特点。文章通过对比三位女性的个性特征的异同，探索乔叟在当时的社会环境下其女性观的制约因素，关于女性地位的先进思想，对人性的深刻认识以及他展现出的人文主义精神。
