中文摘要：教育是民生之本，素质教育的发展是教育发展成功的基石，素质教育也是我国实现我国教育目标的根本。传统的教学模式已经无法适应新的教学需求。那就需要我们大力发展素质教育，优化课堂教学目标，培养学生的学习能力，培养学生的交际能力，以此转变教学模式，实现教学质量的全面提升。英语作为我国教育的重点学科之一，对它的全面素质教育改革将会提高我国英语的整体水平。本文将会对素质教育在初中英语教学中的重要性、素质教育在初中英语教学进行中遇到的障碍和素质教育在初中英语教学中的应用等问题进行讨论，重点分析了素质教育在初中英语教学进行中产生的障碍的三个方面：一是学生自身的障碍，二是教师教学的障碍，三是应试教育的影响。针对不同的障碍，提出了相应的解决方案。希望能有利于提高素质教育在初中英语教学中的应用，并为素质教育在初中英语教学中的教学提出建议。
