中文摘要：对于初中英语学习者来说，英语阅读具有培养学生语感、促进词汇积累、提高写作水平等重要作用。如今英语阅读现状并不乐观，这是因为在英语阅读教学中仍沿用旧阅读教学模式,即忽略语境从单词入手，这种阅读模式会出现诸多弊端，最终导致学生面对长篇阅读时产生畏难情绪从而厌恶英语学习。

语境制约着对单词、句子乃至整篇文章的理解。在英语阅读教学中应用语境，即能全面提高学生的语言能力，又能效减轻初中英语学习者学习英语的负担。因此，把语境引入到英语阅读教学中是十分必要且具有积极意义的。本文在第一章介绍了语境的相关知识，如介绍了语境理论发展过程中一些国内外学者的观点和语境的分类,即语言语境和非语言语境。在第二章介绍初中英语阅读教学的重要性和英语阅读教学现状。在第三章试着从语言语境、非语言语境两个方面来详细研究语境在英语阅读教学中的应用，如学生利用语言语境可以消除歧义，猜测单词，预测下文等，通过利用非语言语境如对作者和时代背景的了解可以帮助学生对文章进行更加透彻的解读。
