一、教材内容分析

 

This unit is the sixth unit in the second volume of Grade 7 Go for it. This unit mainly focuses on the communicative function of “Talking about what people are doing” and the grammar concentrates on the present continuous tense. Students can use the present continuous tense to express specific actions. Through listening, speaking, reading and writing, students can cultivate their ability to use knowledge comprehensively and they can increase understanding, enhance friendship and learn happily in the process of participation, cooperation and communication. And the teaching activities are helpful to stimulate the interest and enthusiasm of students in learning English. This unit consists of two sections. In Section A, students are supposed to know some vocabularies and phrases about activities. They will learn the present continuous tense and they can use it to describe what they are doing. This part also presents some listening and role-play materials in order to improve their listening and speaking abilities. Section B introduces the continuous tense of the verb. The reading material for this unit is a story about a student called Zhu Hui who is studying in the United States. And he describes the differences about the Dragon Boat Festival between the United States and China. The post-reading activities enable students to consolidate what they have learned through sentence-making, which can not only deepen the understanding of the article, but also prepare for the writing later. Besides, the topic is close to students’ life so it can easily arouse students' interest in learning and make them be willing to participate in relevant activities.
