一、教材内容分析

This unit comes from the book which is published by People’s Education Press. This unit is mainly about animals. By learning the names of many animals and some common adjectives to describe animals, students can learn to express their love for animals. Students can know the appearance, living habits and hometown of the animals and use some sentence patterns to ask some questions like “Why do you like pandas?” “Where are they from?”. Through the study of this unit, students will be able to love and protect animals and the natural environment. At the same time, students can improve their oral English in communication and expression, exchange knowledge with each other about animals, and expand their knowledge in all aspects. The teaching important and difficult points are master the words about animals and some related sentence patterns.

二、学习者特征分析

Students in the second half of the seventh grade generally have some foundation after a semester of study, but the foundation is still very weak. Most of the students still have a high enthusiasm and interest in English learning, but a small number of students may lack a good command of English, thus their enthusiasm for English will decline. Students’ self-control is very poor in this period, and easy to be distracted in class, so in this period they must develop good learning habits. Therefore, in the process of teaching, we must encourage students to improve the interest of the class and attract students’ attention.
