任Abstract New curriculum revolution emphasizes on the improvement of the students learning method and advocates that students should actively involve in learning activities and willingly explore them and it is necessary to improve students’ ability of acquiring and solving problems.As to English teaching in junior high school,educators are obliged to impart knowledge to students,but it is also important to cultivate students’ interest in learning English and improve students’ ability of exploring,acquiring and applying knowledge.Therefore,it seems extremely essential to provide students with a learning atmosphere where tasks are used to facilitate knowledge application.Nowadays,traditional teaching method still plays a major role in English teaching.However,as junior high school students’ sense of exploration and manipulative ability have increases gradually,task-based teaching method can achieve significant effects in cultivating students’ problem-solving abilities and facilitating independent development.The dissertation starts from the current situation of English teaching in junior high school,reflects on the advantages and shortcomings of traditional teaching method and task-based teaching method as well as explores the values of task-based teaching method and how to apply task-based method to facilitate English teaching with the help of relevant theoretical research and teaching practices.
