Abstract
Middle school students in China generally have poor oral English skills, and are prone to inaccurate pronunciations, simple sentences, lack of confidence, and inability to communicate smoothly in English. Based on the requirements of English curriculum standard for compulsory education formulated by the Ministry of education, this study analyzes the current situation of middle school students’ oral English acquisition. Also based on the “Affective Filtering Hypothesis”, “Input Hypothesis”, and “Error Analysis Theory”, this study analyzes the problems and causes of middle school students’ oral English acquisition from both internal and external perspectives. On this basis, this study proposes problem-solving teaching strategies in terms of psychological barriers, teacher qualities, mother tongue transfer, language environment and training methods, hoping to help middle school students’ oral English acquisition and middle school oral English teaching.
